🧑🎓 Admissions Corner
Scholarships strategy is becoming a key part of admissions planning
A 2026 scholarship hub from Bold.org highlights around 30 active opportunities for international students, with most awards in the 1,000 to 4,999 USD range. The bigger takeaway for applicants is the funding gap, with students short by over 12,000 USD per year on average, making external scholarships an important part of planning. Data also shows that winners are not defined by GPA alone, with need, background, and story playing a major role
A fellowship route for mid-career applicants
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a U.S.-funded, non-degree program designed for mid-career professionals looking to build leadership and policy impact. Fellows spend a year at a U.S. university taking graduate-level courses while also engaging in practical work, networking, and policy exposure. It is targeted at professionals in fields like public policy, health, environment, media, and development, not early-stage applicants. A key expectation is returning home after the program to apply what they have learned.

H-1B wages could jump. Here’s what’s changing.
The U.S. Department of Labor is proposing a major increase in prevailing wage levels across H-1B, E-3, H-1B1, and PERM cases, which would push minimum salaries significantly higher. Entry-level roles could see a sharp jump in required pay due to higher percentile benchmarks. The change would apply to new filings and pending wage requests, while already approved cases remain unaffected. Employers can still rely on alternative wage surveys, so there is some flexibility. For now, it is only at the proposal stage, with a 60-day comment period and likely legal challenges before anything takes effect.
Alternatives to H1B
We’re hosting a free webinar on how to navigate visa pathways beyond H-1B, in collaboration with Visa Architect.
Nusrat G., Senior Immigration Attorney, breaks down practical alternatives like O-1, cap-exempt H-1B, and J-1.
In this session, we’ll cover why relying only on H-1B creates risk, who actually qualifies for these alternatives, and how they compare across timelines, flexibility, and long-term outcomes.
If you’re still depending entirely on H-1B, this is worth understanding before you need it.

How to approach severance with a strategy
A recent playbook highlights that severance packages are rarely fixed, and employees often leave money and benefits on the table by signing too quickly. Standard packages usually include a few weeks of pay per year of service, limited health coverage, and basic extras, but there is room to negotiate more pay, extended benefits, equity vesting, and stronger reference terms. The key is to slow down, review the agreement carefully, and make a clear, written counteroffer. It also flags risks like restrictive non-competes and vague legal clauses that can impact your next move. Good read.
AI agents are becoming a real edge in the workplace
A detailed guide to OpenClaw shows how professionals are using personal AI agents to manage tasks like email, scheduling, research, and parts of day-to-day operations. These agents can run continuously and execute tasks on their own, making them function more like assistants than traditional tools. In practice, users are setting up multiple agents to handle different responsibilities across work and personal tasks. Setup still requires some effort and caution, but the shift toward more autonomous, always-on AI systems is already underway.
