Walmart halts H-1B hiring amid new $100,000 visa fee under Trump policy

Walmart has paused hiring workers who require H-1B visas following the Trump administration’s decision to impose a $100,000 fee per new application, a move aimed at protecting U.S. jobs. The retail giant, one of the country’s largest H-1B employers, said it remains committed to finding top talent while reassessing its hiring approach. The policy shift reflects how immigration costs are reshaping corporate strategies across major companies. Meanwhile, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has filed a lawsuit challenging the steep new fee, calling it a threat to innovation and small business hiring. Give it a read.

Bay Area immigration crackdown halted after local pushback

A planned immigration enforcement surge by U.S. Border Patrol across the San Francisco Bay Area has been called off, local officials confirmed. The move comes after President Donald Trump agreed to pause additional federal deployments to San Francisco following talks with Mayor Daniel Lurie and tech leaders. Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee and county officials said the cancellation covers the entire region, easing concerns of protests and heightened tensions. Crucial times ahead.

Is EB-1C green card the fast-track path for global executives?

The EB-1C visa provides a direct route to U.S. permanent residency for multinational executives and managers, without the lengthy PERM labor certification process. It is ideal for L-1A visa holders or leaders in global companies expanding into the U.S., rewarding proven management experience and a strong corporate structure. The article explains how the EB-1C can shorten green card timelines, particularly for professionals from countries with long visa backlogs. Interesting info.

Snap eyes $1 billion boost to power its AR glasses vision

Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, is reportedly in talks with investors, including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, to raise at least $1 billion to scale its AR glasses business. CEO Evan Spiegel has been meeting potential backers in recent months and is set to speak at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh next week. The plan includes spinning off its Spectacles unit into a separate subsidiary, similar to Waymo under Alphabet. The talks come as Snap faces a downgrade from Stifel, which cited continued ad revenue pressure and TikTok’s dominance in the U.S. market.
